World Record: Florian Zoller (AUT) crosses 144-metre highline between two gondolas || Gurgl, Tyrol

144 metres of highline, up to 150 metres above the ground and just 25 millimetres wide: Tyrolean slackliner Florian Zoller has successfully crossed a highline suspended between two freely hanging gondola cabins on the TOP EXPRESS cable car in Gurgl, Austria.

At 144 metres, he more than doubles the previous world record benchmark of 65 metres for this type of crossing. The crossing took 15 minutes and 30 seconds. The world record is confirmed: the ISA Sport Commission has provided written confirmation today that the crossing will be officially verified.

For eight years, Zoller pursued the idea of crossing a highline between two gondolas. After a year of dedicated preparation, he successfully completed the project between Obergurgl and Hochgurgl. The main challenge: every movement caused the freely suspended gondolas to swing, transferring motion to the significantly sagging line. During the crossing, the gondolas tilted by around 12 degrees. The entire setup and execution of the project on site were completed within a single day.
