IMSA, Lamborghini Extend Super Trofeo Agreement

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America is set to continue its exhilarating action under IMSA sanction for at least five more years through 2031.

The announcement of the continued partnership builds on a 14-year history dating to the series’ start in 2013.

It also will propel it to the launch of Lamborghini’s newest car, the Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo, the next generation car for the one-make category which will be used across its continental championships in Asia, Europe and North America from the 2027 season.

The Temerario is the first race car built in-house by Lamborghini in its Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters, and its Super Trofeo car will mirror the Temerario GT3 in making its global race debut at Sebring International Raceway.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America is a single-make racing series with competitors in all four classes supported by Lamborghini dealers using identical Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 cars through the end of 2026, culminating in this week’s Lamborghini World Finals in Monza, Italy.

The North American calendar features six doubleheader rounds at five iconic racetracks in the U.S. along with the World Finals location that brings together the three Super Trofeo regions.

“We are proud to extend our partnership with IMSA through 2031,” said Andrea Reggiani, Lamborghini Head of Motorsport. “The United States is a strategic market for Lamborghini Motorsport, and the continuity and stability of our calendar and racing format are key to building on the success we have achieved together with Super Trofeo.

“This long-term agreement provides a strong foundation for the future of the championship, particularly as we approach such an important milestone in 2027 with the debut of the new Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo. We look forward to continuing this successful journey with IMSA and our teams, dealers and drivers across North America.”

The 2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season has seen dynamic car counts and action at each weekend. There have been at least 36 cars entered in each of the domestic rounds, while a total of 18 different cars (four different cars in Pro, three in ProAm, six in Am and five in LB Cup) have won at least one race across the four classes this year.

“Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America has produced a fantastic level of competition, action and camaraderie for more than a decade,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “This agreement with our partners at Lamborghini keeps that as part of the IMSA family for years to come. IMSA is very grateful for the opportunity to sanction this Championship – a “prized possession” of the Lamborghini brand. We can’t wait to welcome and see the exciting debut of the new Temerario Super Trofeo as part of our historic 75th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend next March.”
